I was asked to speak at a Mother/Daughter weekend retreat and the theme was, "What Are We Carrying Around?"
I am a huge theme person so when I found out they were using purses, I got excited at the possibilities!
I'm still fascinated with Mary Poppin's carpet bag and all that she could pull out of it. Which is why I had to have one for this event. Or at least as close as possible.
Using a copy paper box, purse, fabric, hot glue, and an Exacto knife, it was simple to make, and needless to say, a big hit with the girls and the moms!
Cut a hole in the lid of the copy paper box (or the top of any size box you want to use) and glue the fabric to the box, leaving the opening to center the purse over. Make the hole large enough to pull items out of.
Cut a hole in the bottom of a purse and hot glue it over the hole.
And that's it!
Oh, yeah! Be sure to put your arm in as far as possible when reaching for things. You just might hear someone mention Mary Poppins, like I did!
