Items Needed:
OBJECT LESSON / BE EQUIPPED
Items Needed:
Mouth Guard
Who knows what this is used for? It's used to protect your mouth so your teeth don’t get knocked out!
The bible tells us that we should also guard our mouth.
Psalm 141:3, Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.
Why does the bible tell us to guard our mouth?
Proverbs 18:21, Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Because our words are powerful! We can speak words that build us up or we can speak words that tear us down.
What if I said: I can’t do anything right. I’ll never be good enough to play ball. I could never be good enough to be a cheerleader.
How does it make you feel when you hear those words? (sad, depressed, yucky)
What if said: I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me! I’m going to practice and I’ll be the best ball player I can possibly be! I’m going to practice and I’ll be the best cheerleader I can possibly be! God will strengthen me and help me!
How does it make you feel when you hear those words? (strong, like you can do anything)
We want to speak life - so let’s guard our words!
OBJECT LESSON / SKIT
Items Needed:
(Put the Chest Protector on.) Who knows what this is used for? An umpire or catcher uses it so if the ball hits them, it won’t hurt.
The bible tells us that we have something else that protects us. It’s called the shield of faith!
Ephesians 6:16, Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you
will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
Those fiery darts are thoughts that the devil tries to throw at us.
(Devil enters and throws a ping pong ball or foam ball at the chest pad.)
Devil: You can't do anything right.
Teacher: Oh, yes I can! The Bible says I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me. (throw the ball back at the devil.)
Devil: You’re funny looking!
Teacher: Oh, no I’m not! The Bible says that I’m made in God’s image! (throw the ball back at him)
(Add more if you like - things that the kids are dealing with. Devil huffs, stomps his foot and leaves. )
Those thoughts will try to come at you but don’t take them. You throw them right back at the devil by speaking what the Word of God says about you!
1 Corinthians 15:57, Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
WE HAVE THE VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ!
